Somewhere along the way 1968 became 1969. Talk was that back home a big concert was being planned back east. It was to be held at a place called Woodstock. I never heard of the place. Yet, if it was a big enough event to reach the ears of sailors on the far off shores of Japan, it must be something spectacular. We left Yokosuka as the sun sank over the orient. It was on to Hong Kong, Wallingong, Austraila, Melborne, Austraila, Aukland, New Zeland, Pago Pago, Samoa, Mazatlan, Mexico, San Diego, Ca., Long Beach, Ca. and then back to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. It was a Hell of a cruise and I really did get to see some of the world! It was so good to touch California soil, I wrote a letter to my buddy in San Diego who was stationed on a carrier there. I asked him if he could maybe pull a few strings. Try to get me orders back on the west coast. He was in personnel, so he had some connections. He said he would see what he could do. I had had enough of Hawaii and after all...the war was over!
