Having the town all to myself, I drove down the main street and out behind the saloon. A dirt road led from the south end of town into the hills of the old mining area. Headframes, mines and mining equipment can still be found scattered about in the Gold Point foothills. This mining headframe was once used to hoist silver out of the mines.
