Overnight in Bishop would be my last taste of civilization for awhile. I continued south along Hwy. 395 to Big Pine and then east on Hwy. 168 to White Mountain Rd. (also known as the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Scenic Byway). Having read of the spectacular views that could be had from the byway, I wandered down an old dirt road to get this first shot of the snow-capped peaks of the Eastern Sierras.
