The road wound around the west face of the mountain, providing an incredible, unobstructed view of the Sierras with the Owens Valley below. Finding myself on the wrong side of the road, I decided to continue on to Shulman Grove and catch the shots of the mountains on the way back down. Standing like a sentinel above the parking lot, this rare old specimen marked the entrance into the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest.
